Greetings all!

I've got a small (about 18 months old) Dypsis hovomantsina that has lost its vigour and has slowly deteriorated over the past few months. Despite trying almost everything, nothing has worked and while a new spear has emerged over the past few weeks, I'm currently losing the older leaves quicker than they can be replaced.

Then yesterday, I noticed that the top of the heel had gone white and feels a little soft to the touch, even though I have tried to keep it as dry as possible by keeping 1/3 of it above the soil level. So, my question is, is there any hope for a recovery and is it worth attempting to treat it with anything such as H2O2?

Incidentally, when young, do these palms need any direct sunlight, or is bright light enough for them?

Many thanks in advance :)

have you tried drenching the soil with fungicide?

If you have a soil borne pathogen this would be very helpfull

When that small, no direct sun for them, just bright light. You didn't keep it to dry did you?

Yup Josh! Did the fungicide shuffle a couple of weeks back but it seems to have got worse since then.

Jeff, I got this from your friend in Thailand and he did warn me about its watering requirements. I just hope that I haven't given it too much.....

Thanks anyway :)
