Wow! Nice colour on the new leaf. Apparently this species is stoloniferous

Gold Coast, Queensland Latitude 28S. Mild, Humid Subtropical climate. Rainfall - not consistent enough!

Very nice and unaware that it had a new red leaf. Thanks!

I bought this palm as a seedling in 2001 because of a photo in a 1960s botanical book ("Tropica") I saw of a mature clump. It did really well for a number of years from 2001-2006 and was ordered from jdandersen (in the early 2000s, they had a massive selection of palms, even seedling size, available from their website). I distinctly remember the red emerging leaf, although mine was never that red. After hurricane Charley I found it floating in our canal a couple days later, it was just fine. I got it to about 6 feet before I lost it to spider mites and a fungal infection in 2006. Floribunda now has the first ones I've seen for sale since, so I plan on giving it another try in the near future.
