Considering its small size when planted five years ago (2 gallon strap leafed) and the fact that it's in a shady location, my Queen BuJu (Syagrus x Butia x Jubaea) has impressed me with its vigor. Like a lot of my palms, it's in a crowded situation but some day will dominate it. The red in the petioles is a bonus too.

The other palm in the last two pics is a Queen x Jubaea (The title above should have read QuJu) and it also is both crowded and shaded but will be an interesting palm when it gets up and away from the plants surrounding it.

Two hybrids I don't have - I have JxS but not SxJ. I wonder if they would be faster in my sun and heat, Jim?

Where did you get these? Are these Patric creations? I need both. :winkie:

Patric's the man! And, yes Ben, they'd be faster growing in full sun for sure. They do get some direct sun during the winter though.

Yeah, I don't think he does the Syagrus x Jubaea cross anymore but I'm pretty sure he does the Jubaea x Syagrus cross though. Grab a Queen Bu Ju if he has any. They're really hard to impossible to find now.

Yes, I have the JxS from him...planted it last May 16th on the occasion of my daughter's birth! It is already outpacing her.

I have a note into Patric to see what he has...

As with any palms I crave to possess they are impossible to get here. Jim I am trying very hard not to hate you right now.

Peachy, I can't have anybody hating me, especially you! Don't feel too badly as these hybrids are pretty hard to get here in CA too. Funny how things that are hard to get always seem more desirable than others. :)

Picked up two Queen Bu Jus from Patric earlier this week, Jim! One for ground and one for greenhouse. Also got some cool Lytocaryum crosses you might have seen.

Ben, Congratulations! You will love them as they grow. Is the Lytocaryum crossed with Sagrus? I'd love to give that one a try.
