Beautiful landscape views! Looks like you had quite a hike. Please forgive my ignorance -- what is the name of this "lost" (and now found!) Syagrus? In posts #12 and 13, what is the white object behind the palm?

Good night Kim. I had seen a Syagrus in the area for about 3 years ago and decided to go out looking for it, so lost Syagrus. Excuse my English. The white object behind the Syagrus is my employee trying to remove a part of Syagrus to plant in my coffe farm , in post #16. I hope you have clarified your doubts.

Thank you. Believe me, your English is much better than my Portuguese.

I missed this post from Caixeta about his trip to the Laranja Azeda peak

Carambeí, 2nd tableland of the State Paraná , south Brazil.

Alt:1030m. Native palms: Queen, B. eriospatha, B. microspadix, Allagoptera leucocalyx , A.campestris, Geonoma schottiana, Trithrinax acanthocoma. Subtr. climate, some frosty nights. No dry season. August: driest month. Rain:1700mm

I am seeking for cold hardy palms!

Caixeta, thanks for sharing your trip to locate the lost Syagrus growing up there. Muito interessante!

Hawaii Island (Big Island), leeward coast, 19 degrees N. latitude, south Kona mauka at approx. 380m (1,250 ft.) and about 1.6 km (1-mile) upslope from ocean.

No record of a hurricane passing over this island (yet!).

Summer maximum rainfall - variable averaging 900-1150mm (35-45") - Perfect drainage on black volcanic rocky soil.

Nice sunsets!
