This is their second year. And they went pretty much back to the ground last year at 1 year, with that night at 24 degrees. But they came back roaring. Got a few more flower buds on there, too.

Red Orchid Bush (Bauhinia galpinii). Most Bauhinia are too tender here.

I had them in San Bernardino and they froze hard every year and came back.

Try some up where you are, when the time comes, I'll give away seed to the annoyance of the merchants

I planted mine next to my front porch and have been shaping it to a small tree. Flowers all year long and i mean covered with blooms. Ive had people ask if its a Royal Poinciana. The only problem is its over 10 feet tall and the branches drop down to the ground so i have to keep trimming it every couple weeks and in the process remove alot of flowers.. I love it despite having to sweep a carpet of blossoms daily from the porch.

Beautiful. I never heard of this plant before.

Bet it would be a great plant for Dubrovnik.

It will freeze in the cold, but come back from the roots.

Sorry, dont have any and one on Google Earth are to blure and taken in Nov 2011 so arent representative. Maybe Cikas can provide us fresh pics if he takes a trip to check out Dbk Bizmarckias. They have few in public grove along Iva Dulcica st.
