This tree is about 60-70 yrs old, trunk is 6' in circumference. Lightning hit the house a few days ago, no visible damage to the tree (lost my tv, electronics etc). Is this drooping leave a dying tree from lightning strike or is it dying from old age. Lots of seeds this year. All the fronds were heathy and pointed up a few days ago. post-14948-0-06771800-1438649736_thumb.j

They don't die from old age all of a sudden. It's a long (several years) slow decline with smaller and smaller new leaves until demise. The lightening must have struck very close to your Washingtonia and shocked it. Keep a watch on the spear and, if it grows and opens, chances are the palm will recover.

Lightning strike normally looks ( at least to me) like they put a giant hammer to the head of a palm, pretty much like that. Might make it might not, one of those quirky things in life and the price we sometimes pay in Florida. Have had many strikes around me and so far no palms..
