Long time no see palmlovers.

I've been busy with other stuff but my palmtrees are still doing fine. :) Summers been wet and sunny and warm and well everything.

Since last time I visited you my son has become a big brother to a little girl. He shows her all kinds of stuff and now she can walk he took her for a tour of our garden. When he came to the palms he said to her. This is mommys palmtrees. They are sticky, and heavy. :winkie:

Yesterday me and my friend visited Copenhagen and of course, we took a tour in the botanical garden. They have Trachycarpus fortunei on open land and have had for many years now. They do fine and the large one have been flowering this year.

Hej Ciczi,

Nice to hear from you and good to know that everything is well with you and the family and all your palms. :) And those Trachycarpus in Copenhagen are pretty impressive, considering the environment!

Ha det så bra! :)

@Kai Winter by a palm tree standard probably starts November 1st and last for at least 4,5 months here in my part of Sweden. Temperatures can be (all in Celsius) so high as 10 degrees but as low as minus 10. It varies pretty much. Sometimes we can have loads of snow but this last winter we had only one day of snow. The problem isn’t the temperature so much. A trachy could handle the temperature (obviously) but the biggest problem would be that we have winters that are very grey. Some months, like last January we had as little as 8 hours of sunlight. Not per day, for a whole month. The rest of that month the sky were covered by thick clouds, not letting any sunlight through.

@bgl Yes. Those Trachys are very impressive considering the environment. When ever I visit Copenhagen I take my time to visit these palm trees too. Its fun to see how well adapted they are to our climate conditions.
