This is a palm that rarely gets mentioned when the subject of Copernicia comes up.Does anyone else grow these?Maybe the lack of interest is due to its close resemblance of the Mexican fan palm?I grew mine from seed I collected in the Dominican Republic 9 years ago.Seems to grow pretty quickly once placed in the ground, takes full Arizona sun and heat, but I have noticed some frost burn over some of our winters.Still,I find it a pretty interesting tree to grow.

I agree, it's not near as attractive as it's relatives. Also, a bit of a wimp in winter compared to other Cop's.

I have two very large ones, one here at the house, the other at the nursery. I like them, it's just both have flowered constantly for years now but has never produced one seed. A little disappointing in that respect.

I got seeds same time and place, the DR biennial in 2006. They had to sit in pots for years until I built my house and cleared the forests on my property, They finally made it into the ground but are way behind yours in growth. I planted them in a location where they would be backlit from the sun during at least part of the day. The attached photo from the seed collection location in the DR should show why.
