Haven't posted in maybe a year.  Palms are still growing, well most of them.  I have lost a few but then who hasn't?   Any hoo just yesterday I began clearing one hillside and worked again today and pretty much rescued this palm from about 4 years of dead fronds and some grass about 3' tall.   Someone out there sent me some seeds, can't remember who.  I believe they came from someone in Argentina.  Any way one survived to get planted out in 2005 and here it is 10 years later.  I have never added to the irrigation since planting.  My bad.  LOL

STEVE!

Good to see you back!

Yeah, that poor Butea just barely survived all the neglect you gave it. Call your place Death Camp Oahu? :)

Seems pretty quick, especially being neglected.

Well that's 10 years of growth.  Didn't do much but water it.  You can see the system in the last picture.  Over the years the grass has grown back tall and has been cut back a number of times.  It has flowered and set a few seeds which I did not harvest.  :-(.  Very little fertilizer as well.

Nice looking palm.  Yatay is my favorite of the Butia species.  Hope mine looks like that eventually!
