I picked up this small 1 gallon stilt root palm and planted it a few months ago and it has done nothing. I just wanted to ask the experts if it's planted correctly to the correct depth. I left it exactly like it was in the pot.

Looks like Socratea exorrhiza … : http://www.palmpedia.net/wiki/Socratea_exorrhiza

It does look like Socratea and typically, even as seedlings, already have developing stilt roots. I don't know if I'd plant it deeper, although you could try, but rather stake it for support.

My Iriatea and Wettinia have been in the ground for about 5-6 years and are now starting to develop stilt roots unlike Socratea which has a skinny stilt root right out of the gate.

I had a beautiful huge Socratea that got taken out by tropical force winds, too exposed. Seedlings tend to snap off for the same reason if not supported.

Being in Belize, palms in the stilt root family should do well for you.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I have no idea what the species is, I'm hoping time will tell. I went ahead and put a little potting soil around the root, and I try to keep it watered every day since I understand you don't want the stilt roots to dry out. It's very humid here and rains a lot so it not a big issue. It's planted under a huge old tree that the locals say is a paper tree so it gets a lot of shade / filtered sun. I also built the small fence around it to protect it from the dogs. I hope it starts growing at some point, It's been working on the new spear for 4 months now.

Looks healthy and it is pushing a new spear so all is well.  The fence is a great idea as dogs (not mine) have destroyed a few of my prized seedlings.

It looks fine. Leave it alone and keep it well watered.
