Hope this Lafamazanga keeps this feature, is it true that if it doesn't have the silvery undersides, it's not pure?

First color of the year for any of my palms.  This one is Chambeyronia macrocarpa var. 'hookeri'.  It's opened a bit more since this picture.  Love this palm.  It's small only about 6 feet to the top of the fronds.Chambeyroniamacrocarpavar.hookeri-20240129_120933.thumb.jpg.df67ef677f1e2df876bf191bb452508b.jpg

Although these are common , even here in SoCal , the color of the Golden Cane really stands out in the garden.

A little color popping up over my wall and gate.  It was beautiful watching this newly opening leaf blowing in the wind as the storm blew in yesterday afternoon.

I haven't added anything in here for a while, so here's some maroon and a little red; a little more maroon and red with a smidge of brown; and some orange.

My Chrysalidocarpus (Dypsis) decipiens is still quite small, but is colorful. Waking up to spring with a new leaf. I ignore it since it's doing fine without any unnecessary attention. Will grow into the sun where it is, but that'll take years.

Calyptrocalys leptostachys. I’ve posted numerous photos of these little palms and will do so until I’m no longer breathing.

Hookeri looking especially contrast against the L. decora. Love the orangish-red.

Finally the reveal that makes this palm so special. Been awhile since this Dictyocaryum lamarckianum has shed a leaf sheath, still waiting for the one on the right to do the same. Somewhat surprised how much they have slowed down over the last few years.

Slowing down at that size is nice to keep those crownshafts at eye level. One of the wonders of palm world!

Has the crownshaft colour improved over the years? Mine are just trunking but very pale! Thanks for sharing your amazing collection once again.

Rich, thanks for the kind words, much appreciated. These Dictyocaryum have always had good color, even as young juveniles. The color does vary after a frond drop, from a soft blue to a more light purple blue. The color also seems to be specimen specific, the one in the photo typically has more of a purple hue, while the one on the right more blue.  I used to have another one, also more blue, but it was always puny and seemed to be penciling out, I removed it. ( quite a luxury eh?)

Nowadays I get about one frond a year which is slower than previous years, at least that’s my perception.

The photo attached was taken about ten years ago shortly after the palms started trunking.

Burretiokentia kogihensis.  It isn't as vibrant as some of its fellow New Caledonia palms but it still provides some color in the garden.

I always thought this was Calyptrocalyx elegans, but now I’m not so sure. Anyway, it’s been looking nice lately.
