It actually has push 2 leaves out the bottom of the pot any reasons as to why this is happening? ? In the last few weeks of this happening the main original plant has declined thanks for your info

Transplant it into another wider pot after having a look at the root system. Maybe you have two plants with the right seedling having germinated later, maybe the pot became too narrow for the only one plant …

Looks like what some in the PT community call a "dweezle". If you search that word you should find some old threads about the phenomenon.

Looks like it is putting out a new growing point. Perhaps the old was damaged. Sabals do that sometimes. My S. miamiensis did it 7 years ago. I thought the seedling had died until the new strap leaves emerged from its original "stem". Now it is brimming with health and just finished its 2nd year of fruiting. Don't give up on yours as it will probably make it. Eventually you won't be able to tell this secondary  growing point isn't the original.

Total dweezle

Many times palms will do this, it's their way of fighting to stay alive. Sometimes they produce this new growth and sometimes the damage was too great and they can't recover. For now, leave it in this pot.

I agree totally with Meg. Through trial and error, Meg has become a very good grower. Unlike what others might think, this palm should make a total recovery.:winkie:

Hi Mark. Has that Sabal maritima continued to grow? My Sabal domingensis has done the same thing- as soon as I put it into the ground. It seemed happy before it went in the ground.
