Though remembering that Carludovica is not a palm (Arecaceae) but a Cyclanthaceae, I love that plant:

and I love this family, but who knows how to grow Cyclanthaceae from seeds, or where to get seedlings?

I can't remember the name of this one:

Jungle Paradise in Sri Lanka

Nice pictures of the flowers. These flowers are eaten by the farmers, this Carludovica grows everywhere ...very abundant , the stalk was used to fashion the so called Panama -hats.

The fruit is a soft red colored mass where the seeds are picked out from by birds that contribute to spread this plant. Besides this plant produces shoots all year long.

Since Sri Lanka has a comparable climate to Costa RIca , I would recommend caution in importing seeds from this family. Carludovica turns up in all forests ,gardens oil palm plantations, and in nursery pots where they compete with every plant growing in it. If it does not grow yet in Sri Lanka better not try to grow it.

Some other plants from the same family (Asplundia,etc..) are looking like small palms and people take them out of the forest to their gardens here.
