My Rarest Palms that are yet to go into ground are probably these. Although I am no expert on what is considered "rare" as I have been told that I should be planting more "Rare" stuff than what I am planting LoL. I am trying.

Have not put into ground yet, but will eventually go into ground when I can get locations in garden worked out.

I have 2 Sabal Miamiensis ( Been told this is controversial Palm/Topic)

I just got 4 total Kerriodoxa Elegans that are in the garage waiting to be planted when I can get the conditions right to plant

Lastly, I have 3 Chameyronia Houailou waiting to be planted as well. Maybe not "Rare" but rarest of this Species I believe.

Rarest, meaning the fewest people have another--if any... Silver rigida or variegated fallaensis. They are a toss up, at this point.

Whoa! I wish I had that toss up. Both are killer plants let alone with variations.

It's hard to say what would constitute my rarest species planted out. Because I love the genus Licuala, some of the rarer species would be,

L. sallehana

L. beccariana

L. terengganuensis

L. merquensis.

Others I'm enjoying are,

Cryosophila nana

Cyrtostachys elegans X C. renda

Cyrtostachys elegans

Hydriastele selibicum

And I'm now very proud to say I have a new Double coconut seed BUT not viable. This almost counts, no?:)

impressive list Jeff.

So I decided to take a few pics of some "rare for its size in So Cal" palms I have...maybe elsewhere too.

I put a can in there for scale...the can is rare too..lol

Note a decent, more or less full coastal sun Kentiopsis piersoniorum... I finally unlocked the secret?...(dam, now its jinxed)

20151220_114336_resized.jpg

Also, what was originally sold around here as Dypsis sp."highland mealybug".. now I believe is known as Dypsis nauseosa... but that too could change

More "Rare for its size,  etc..."

Note a Dypsis sp"Big Red. which since I know of no official species name may make it rare at any size?.. Could be a variety of lastelliana most likely.

20151220_114511_resized.jpg

And then you'll see a pretty big Kentiopsis magnifica... or at least the trunk of it.. I didn't realise how big the jubea leaves would get and it has stayed in the curve looking for sunlight... It originally had a gopher chew down on some of the roots and hollow out the soil to that side which caused it to lean soon after starting to trunk.

20151220_114607_resized.jpg

I have some rarer smaller stuff, but too small to waste the film....

Oh yeah, in the far left you can see a boxed Dypsis decipiens super duper pooper maroon or whatever its name is screaming for more sunlight and heat.. but its leaves stay a nice bluish with maroon highlights and the leaf always opens maroon color..

Do you mean variation or variegation?  Most leaves are variegated, but it puts out an all-green leaf from time to time.  It's not a great picture... I need to get it out of there and get a better shot.
