Hello All,

I just got back from a road trip from Virginia to New Mexico and enjoyed some time at the San Antonio Botanical Garden, San Antonio Zoo, as well as the River Walk. Below is a sampling of some of the palms in San Antonio. I will post more photos later when I've got some more time.

Take care,

-Chris

The first photo here is a large (young) Sabal Mexicana!  I'd love to be able to grow this palm in Albuquerque.

Not sure what the last palm is. Does anyone know?  It must have been about 40 feet tall and looked at first like a Mexican fan palm, but it had no red on the petioles nor did it have any discernible spines.  I have another picture from further back that is darker but I can post if you think it would help.

Have a great weekend!

Depending on where you are located in ABQ you should be able to grow a Sabal Mexicana as they are much more hardy than a washingtonia filifera.

Thanks! I'm going to give it a shot.  I've got some seed I collected on the trip! Also got some Sabal palmetto to try!
