Hi everyone. It's the end of the year, so I'm visiting my garden at my parents' house in Palmetto. I haven't posted any garden tours of the new garden yet, so I thought I'd start now.

Everything has been in the ground for about a year, so everything is still pretty small. The garden should end up pretty nice after a few years.

(I only see the garden for a short time once every few months, so it hasn't been weeded since August.)

Front of the house:

Cyphophoenix nucele. It hasn't looked very good since I planted it, so I'm hoping it colors up once it's been planted for a few years

Pritchardia beccariana being shaded a little too much. I usually clean out the beach sunflowers when I visit, but I haven't gotten to it yet this visit. The plant to the left is a lobster claw heliconia.

My biggest royal that I sprouted from seed. This was transplanted from a more shady location, so it's taken a while to get acclimated.

Reminds me of houses in Ohio, no fences around the yards.

I'm sure your parents' garden will be awesome in a few years!

Love the K. oliviformis; I moved one earlier this year in June, and it's still not snapped out of the post-transplant funk.

Here's two royals I sprouted from seed. These were strap leaf seedlings that were exposed to 28 F in January 2010, and 27 F in December 2010 while they were in a small pot that was completely frozen. I originally had about 70 seedlings, but I kept these two because they had no damage.

Coconuts and B. alfredii. I sprouted the coconuts from ones I bought at Publix that came from the Dominican republic. They should be the Criollo variety, which is closely related to the Jamaican tall (the one on the right might be a hybrid though)

Keith,

I love it, and I am so jealous you live in an area where you can easily grow all that.  If my climate was just about 2F to 3F warmer in the winter, I could grow all sorts of stuff here including lots of different types of coconut palms, which by the way, I love your coconut collection!

Congratulations, the collection is amazing and of course those coconuts... I am so jealous :D Just wanted one hehe.

Looks great. I saw some Beccariophoenix at Leu Gardens recently and they're stunning palms in person, so your parents' property will only improve with time. Nice palm choices.
