Ah the Coco Frio - hopefully it will defy the odds and not become a Coconut of Doom. :o

Merry Christmas guys. The toys have become one of my favorites things in the garden. There will be many more after my son wakes up to open his gifts. :lol:

By the way Moose, that's a shade grown coco. It will definitely defy the odds if it makes it much longer.

Merry Christmas to all.

Warmest one as far as i remember, first time yard is still completely without protection!.

We topped 15°C today making xmas feel more like spring!

The boat sailed here. My son recently moved to Oregon to attend school. Don't have to build things now, just write out big tuition checks.

The time passes so fast, hang on to each and every minute with the kids while you can!

Thanks! The reddish leaf you see on the left opened October 1, it's still red after about 3 months. In mid summer the red leaf lasts about 6 weeks as it grows faster (opens 1 leaf a month).

Lucky! My hookeri just started to open at the tip. Looks like it will be a show for New Years. In the meantime Merry Christmas Palm to everyone

I'll have to correct myself. The small palm is a hyphorbe indica. I forgot my spindle was the one that got killed by the summer sun.

The palm in the center is a cypophoenix nucele.

Today is looking even better....this is the nicest leaf in the last couple of years. The color usually only lasts a week or so for mine....but maybe this one will be longer....6 weeks would be awesome

Screened pool area. This is one of Ken Johnsons palms. It has been in the ground for almost 3 years. I protect it below freezing with a tarp and sometimes some artificial heat. Went through the Polar Vortex like that. This year no freezing temps and none expected for the next week. Maybe a 10a winter? In the future another wall may be built Making it completely enclosed except the top.....it would be easier to protect the courtyard palms and it would cut down on my noise problem with the road 40 foot away.

I've previously wondered about that area of your house.  Palm and screened area look great.  I need a flamethrower like that.
