Hyophorbe amarcaulis is critically endangered with one palm tree left on the island of Mauritius. I was wondering if anyone ever heard of it being cultivated for reintroduction wholesale ?

Steve said he is growing it and cutting off the flower bracts because they are ugly...

few days ago  i thought to post a topic about this palm but you post it first, 

i read this palm didn't produce any fertile seeds for last 15+ years, many failed attempts to germinate or 

i think tissue culture is the only hope i don't know it work in palms

Wonder if they can cross it with indica. Then back cross it to get an "almost" pure cultivated plant.

I heard it's because you don't want it to cross with your Hyphorbe amarcaulis CV. Black Stem, Black Crownshaft

In about 2010 there was an article in Palms about this species. At that point several seeds had recently been germinated in-vitro by staff at Curepipe BG.  I wonder what has happened since...

 certainly hope so , I love any type of palm tree that has feathery fronds like coconuts . I'd love too grow this Palm . Any houseplants with feathery fronds that strongly resemble coconuts.?

I love how it resembles a reed growing on the side of a riverbank it's interesting to look at that's for sure .
