Nice job with the photos! I'm curious about the owner's experience so far with the Shar Pei.

May I ask where you got those seeds - RPS ?

Yes!

Don't know about the doggie, but I'll ask.

I ordered the seeds at the end of December.

topic/48439-rare-palm-seeds-… the answer is there,

Certainly Rare Palm Seeds list is like christmas gift list for us children, like Floribunda Palms price list ….
Then comes the problem; I felt our garden shrank in the last six months.
So many seedlings, so little space, what to do?

Plant the short among the tall, like I do.

Or, sometimes, take a shovel and remove a surplus palm

or, sometimes, take a chainsaw and have a heart of palm salad.

Shar Pei is a very temperamental breed. Keep always in mind that in China it was used for dog fight until the import of ... more proper breeds from the west.

Shar Peis are highly prone to skin conditions because of all their wrinkled skin. You have to check and treat them often. In FL's heat/humidity they would be in misery. I've never seen a pure one around here. I've also heard they can be difficult.

Thanks guys for the dog input! A plant lady I know down in CT has / had one - a true sweetheart - thinks it was a cat! But I, too, have heard about their skin issues and temperamental attitude. When they get older, some are cute, most don't stay cute.

As for the RPS seeds - nice selection - think it's better to get more variety with the packs of 10, or go wholesale?

Just ordered some stuff from them yesterday.. rare flowering stuff instead of palms for this order.. Is 4 weeks about right regarding delivery?

In place of any other comment, you are hopefully aware of this sheet http://www.ext.colostate.edu/mg/gardennotes/223.html#ironsulfur... Further you will find yourself through constant trial, which fertilizer suits most which palm of yours. Fortunately for you, your area is rich in rainfall, that is distilled water in the very end!

Yo! Adrian!

There's a red petiole Ravenala something that's supposed to be like the regular travelers' palm except with red petioles.

Time will tell. They're not on the list for wholesale, just small packets.

I got three.
