I wish we could have both ...we have to build a granny flat to rent to help heavy mortgage repayment...so need to be palms or pool...or pool+ palms in pots ...

I went to  house recently where they no longer wanted the pool so they built a deck over the top. A future owner could easily reinstate the pool and in the meantime there was a huge storage area and no pool maintenance!

We'd like the pool and we use it whenever we could , the main reason I might want to have it gone is that I will have no other place to plant my palms after we build a new granny flat where exactly my small palms are now,,,

Then all you can do without spending a bomb is plant right up to the edges leaving one end free to get in/out.  Amazing how many palms can be squeezed into a tiny space.  Could the granny flat have a flat roof?

Thanks Richonorm

I am not sure about the roof, what does it have to do with the palm planting ?

can I keep the pool and plant beside the pool ( after removing some paving stones) ? could it be a good plan?

Flat roof can be turned into a green space if suitable construction.  Could have a nice outlook over that pool too and create more outdoor space.  Tall palms would create a nice backdrop on the righthand side.  It's amazing how many palms can be squeezed in here and there.  If you have a small collection you can give them 100% attention and appreciate them all the more.

No, this is not my pool. This is inside a private community next to one of Obamas favorite spot; Sunnylands in Rancho Mirage.

During winter the pools gets pretty cold, so heater is a must if you want to go for a swim.

So to answer your question, water temp is set to 87°f.:D

Ahhhh...sure wish I could run the heater year round in my pool.  Not cheap!

Wow, Dani.  That seems like a perfect microclimate for trying to grow a Southern Cali Coconut Palm, especially if it's a heated pool in the winter.

I could totally do something like this at my house.  But I'd rather come visit yours because you are paying for it.

No. You will make drawings and find how to do all what you dream of Mohsen. You already have the pool.

Grab a beer and get out the pen and paper..........

I love pools. These are all lovely. Scott, yours looks like the Mediterranean sea, its huge.

Keith, thats lovely too.

I have no pool just a very small back garden with a lawn. Before I got this home people had a choice lawn or concrete, they chose concrete for the front..

As its rented nothing I can do to alter it.
