Saturday I was at Disney's Magic Kingdom. In Adventureland by the Jungle Cruise ride is a nice planting of Livistona decora, L. australis and L. chinensis

Eric, is australis the first one past the decora?  I notice decora is blooming now and it looks like australis is too.

Land O Lakes FL, a suburb on the North Side of Tampa, FL

Summers are great, 90f/32c in the day & 70f/21c at night with plentiful rain & sun

Winters are subtropical with occasional frosts and freezes. Tropical cyclones happen.

We have a few Royal palms in the warm microclimates but Coconuts freeze.

I am a Kayaker, Hiker, Bicyclist, and amateur Photographer that loves the outdoors.

Yes, L. decora on the left, L. australsi on the right and 2 L. chinensis in the back. There is a small clump of Acoelorrhaphe wrightii on the far left.

Is that decora healthy?  It looks exceptionally sparse.

Yes, it is healthy. Older, taller L. decora tend to develop more open crowns in full sun.

L. chinensis are really impressive tall, though no one sees them like that much.

They are about 20ft tall. There are taller ones back in the jungle area.

Here at Leu Gardens we have that are 40-50ft tall. They were planted back sometime between 1936 and the mid '50s by Mr. Leu. People often think they are Washingtonia.
