Base erosion

Hi all. I have this one Manila palm that is showing its roots. There is also a bit of a space on one side where the roots are not reaching the ground. The Palm was planted at the same time as another about 15ft away that is not showing roots. Should I be concerned or throw some mulch around the roots and relax?

If it were me, I would mound some good quality soil around the palm up to the level just about where the trunk begins.  Or, add the soil and then a layer of mulch on top so the top of the mulch is at the height where the trunk starts.  The mulch should help slow the erosion process.

Then, I would install a circular hardware cloth cage around the base of the palm to prevent further weed eater damage/abrasions to the trunk.  I secure hardware cloth cages to the ground by making horseshoe shaped pieces of aluminum bonsai wire (4mm gauge) that are around 4" long and threading one end through the lowermost horizontal row of hardware cloth wire, then push the "u shaped" stakes into the ground.
