First of all, are you sure that this is related to Mg deficiency? Maybe you can post a picture of the palm.

With regards to epsom salt fertilization, there are generally two methods, watering the palm or spraying the leaves. The latter typically works much faster. For spraying the leaves, the recommendation is a 1%-solution, i.e. 10g of epsom salt dissolved in 1 liter of water (I am pretty sure that is less than 1 tbsp). Two or three applications over 2 weeks should resolve the problem. However, do not expect the yellowish leaves to turn dark green again, they will simply stop turning from lime green to yellow..

I sprinkled 2tbsp around the soil and watered in and then added some fert with npk 15-5-15 +2mg +Te hopefully it will resolve the issue.I been browsing the web on how to do it correctly and from what I read is that if magnesium is added then it needs potasium.is this correct.

Hmm, is this a type of lime green you're seeing? This is my potted Livistona, and I alwYs thought it was sort of unnaturally bright. Could it be Mg-deficient? It's been potted forever...

I think your Trachy needs nitrogen, not magnesium.

I am not sure if it needs nitrogen will see what other forumers think also

I do not see a Mg deficiency either. Typically you would see the old leaves yellow quickly, but unless you cut all the yellow leaves off, the old leaves look OK to me. As @Monòver suggests, it might require some general fertilizer with some N, P and K, which ideally also includes Mg.

Thanks for the reply I noticed my clay soil was also waterlogged and got yellowing of the tips on the older leaves.but new growth is green and an extra spear is starting to open.so I replanted it today in a mixture of multipurpose.john innes no 2 and 3 and bits of grit in the john innes mixed with clay.I dont know if i should add slow release fert in a newly planted trachy nainital.anyways then i soaked rootball in root hormone stimulant palmbooster to prevent transplant shock and backfilled.and watered.now I will give it a few days upto a week and see what happens.

Do you guys think I done the right thing?

Yes and you can get both in one product called sulpomag. It's a short lived solution that will wash out of your soil pretty quickly. Jersey green sand is a great organic alternative for long lasting effects and it greatly improves soil quality.  I think one application  lasts about 4 or 5 years as opposed to one season with the sulpomag. Organics rule! Feed the soil and it will provide everything you need without chemical fertilizers :) keep your microbeasties well fed and happy and they'll take care of the rest. You also get stronger more disease and pest resistant plants when using Organics.
