A few years ago I crossed a Pelargonium and the result was a plant with very pale pink flowers.

Last year I got seeds from it by hand pollinating it and I'm waiting for those seedlings to flower

So did you get any interesting flowers?  I'm growing a couple of the Pelargonium species with miniature flowers and delicate leaflets but they can form an interesting caudex over time.  This is one, Pelargonium carnosum.

I grew one pelargonium this year and its been years since I have grown one. I grew mine in a hanging wall planter on the trunk of one of my palm trees. It still out there and as long as it doesn't get to cold will leave still spring. It grew quite a big this year, some what of a deep pinkish red color. Looks great when in bloom.

Great new one you've created. I've never even thought about doing that!

Sorry about the bad typing above.... LOL.

I've seen Pelargonium carnosum before but thought it was some type of parsley. Your right the flowers are very small and not very full. But the trunks are very interesting indeed.

Pelargonium carnosum is a consistent winter/spring bloomer.  At this point of winter it seems to be in the leaf growing mode again, but will bloom with tiny white and pink flowers on long stems again in a few weeks.  It is definitely getting the twisted trunk that I wanted when I got it.  These are great little potted plants for small spaces that I think would make great bonsai plants.

LIke clockwork the Pelargonium carnusum is loaded up with leaves in mid-January.  I don't recall the species of the other Pelargonium I am growing, but it has even finer leaves than the P carnosum.  Anyone else dabbling in these species?

I reminds me of Pelargonium dasyphyllum, but the bloom is important for a better ID. It's closely related to P. carnosum.

Hi 82˚, Lo 44˚

Pelargonium carnosum flowers in bloom now and the other plant has some buds.  I will get photos of the other plants flowers when I see some open.
