Hi

Here is a still of our Blue Hesper palm recently gifted to a local park.

Btw they find it difficult to grow in our hot wet tropics with coastal humidity..

Here is a beautiful brahea armata from the Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife from our holiday last winter. They had many nice palms in this place but I was especially impressed by this brahea.

Is it just mine or are they very drought tolerant? Mine grow well with very little water....

It's not just you, I agree, in fact I think that once they are tapped they don't really need much water if any water at all. They are super fast too compared to the armatas

Here is my B. Armata I bought at a big box store in Lufkin, TX of all places - the only one I have seen for sale in 16 years in East/SE Texas.  I don't know why this is so hard to find around here - my favorite fan palm and I don't mind if it stays small for awhile!  :D  Looks really cool with a full moon.

Here is a Brahea decumbens growing in my upslope garden in south Kona, Big Island, Hawaii.  It was green when young but now has matured enough to take on a very silver-blue color.

Hawaii Island (Big Island), leeward coast, 19 degrees N. latitude, south Kona mauka at approx. 380m (1,250 ft.) and about 1.6 km (1-mile) upslope from ocean.

No record of a hurricane passing over this island (yet!).

Summer maximum rainfall - variable averaging 900-1150mm (35-45") - Perfect drainage on black volcanic rocky soil.

Nice sunsets!

Braheas are just the perfect palms :greenthumb:

They're so though, easy to care for, so resilient to droughts, I can just keep on going but most of you already know how awesome this palm species is.

Beautiful palms and great visuals. ..but these palms never go for my hot wet tropical climate with coastal humidity...but seeing my bismarkia. I feel contented.

Anyway keep those visuals coming.

There was old thread by our member kathy.if you can find it kindly link this thread with it.
