Double Spear Windmill

I just bought this Windmill on discount from a local nursery and noticed that it seems to open two fronds simultaneously!  2 Spears come up at the same time and open. I have 10 palm trees in my North Carolina yard and none of them do this.  What's going on?

I've seen this many times, in fact I have one right now with double spears.

Will this grow into 2 trunks? Or do they grow twice as fast?

Hmm..  I haven't noticed that before but I also do not have Trachycarpus in my collection yet.

No ... typically these push new spears in a fairly evenly spaced rhythm. In this case one may have slowed while the next nearly caught up.

Update! The spear and frond fooled me!  I had just bought it and it appeared to have two Spears and fronds opening simultaneously (look at previous pics) but here it is about a week later ...a single frond opening up and only 1 spear, but it looks healthy even though I got it on end of season discount! Woohoo!!!
