On my last trip to Panama City I saw a lot of palms in parking lots that looked like Acrocomia.  Sorry, I did not take better and detaild pictures.

Are they Acrocomias, and which species? Y guess Acrocomia because of the seeds i saw and the spines, very similar to a Acrocomia aculeata I have in my garden.

The photos are from Albrook Mall.

...possibly A. aculeata

That doesn't happen there / So when you run make sure you run / To something and not away from

Cause lies don't need an aero plane / To chase you anywhere

Panama City, Panama ..... not Panama City, Florida

Just wanted to clarify that .... wish we had them up here....those Dade City totai would probably make it if a source could ever be found.

I finally have a seed source and a bucket of seeds germinating.  These 5g that i potted up to 15g are little rockets.

Do you have any smaller ones for sale?

May give me time to figure out where the heck I would put it. If this winter is cold...might have a spot :( .....don't even want to think about that though.

Would still be nice to see some pics.

That is awesome! I'm so glad you got a hold of some. This one's high on my list to try here.

I'm curious to see how this winter will end up also. I want to think we'll not hit teens. If it got no colder than 22 degrees, I could handle that (which for you, would probably be more like 25).

Aren't these seeds notoriously hard to germinate? What's the key and how long did it take?
