Anyone know what species these "clumping" palms are? The picture was taken at the Singapore Botanic Garden in 2007.

Oncosperma tigillarium. I saw that exact palm earlier this year.  An awesome palm that is quite common in large gardens and parks in South East Asia.

Leilani Estates, 25 mls/40 km south of Hilo, Big Island of Hawai'i. Elevation 880 ft/270 m. Average rainfall 140 inches/3550 mm

Mine was a picture taken of the island in Swan Lake at the Singapore Botanical Garden. Your picture looks like a shot of the exact same island.  My picture was taken on October 19, 2007 and yours was taken on January 1, 1978; that is almost 30 years apart!
