In another post, I told about how I managed to somehow kill off my first S. magnifica, that I had for over a year, after repotting it. :hmm::crying::indifferent: Well, I am blessed because a friend I made through PT (she doesn't post, but she's in the background enjoying all the wonderful posts) gifted me my second magnifica  (along with a second Marojejya darianii she's been able to successfully and beautifully grow IN FLORIDA for over a year, I believe). It is my top goal to keep both of these thriving and growing as beautifully as she has. The magnifica is a gorgeous specimen, and larger than my first. It even already has its first split leaf. I truly treasure it. I know this comment is pointless with no pic. Will get a pic soon.

Good news Missi! I'm sure we all felt very sorry for you when lights went out for your first Sabinaria. Happy to have you back in the club :greenthumb:

They seem to be quite a robust species. We had a little bit of cold this past year, didn't seem to faze them a bit.

They don't like long cool winters or cool summer nights. Not a great palm for the SF Bay Area. Heat and humidity seem to be to this palm's liking.

So your one isn't happy? Perhaps send it to Australia ;)

My two are growing nicely. Just been hidden with all the other potted stuff. Occasional nutricote. Partial sun.  Lots of water. Gonna put the largest in a big decorative pot.

Saw this little one a couple of weeks ago in Waimea Valley after watching the  Billabong Pipe Masters final.

These things are still flying. I'm starting to think more and more than this is going to be a great Palm for Florida. We had quite a bit of cold-ish weather in December, didn't seem to faze them at all.
