PALMETTO COMES BACK TO LIFE!!!

So I dug this Sabal palmetto up from Hilton Head Island S.C. In August, and it basically "died" a week after I dug it up, I am assumng transplant shock. So today I look at the, what seems to be dead palm in the pot it has been in, and I never took care of it at all while it was in the pot, I let the rain fill it up and everything, thinking it was dead, I just never got the chance to throw it in the planter and use it as dirt. So today I look at it and to my surprise a new spear is coming out, I was shocked, but of course happy. Take a look.

I had this happen to 2 palmettos I dug up in florida.  they both pushed out new spears, however the smaller of them died shortly afterward.  the larger is still alive and doing well.  I think it is one of the smallest trunking palmettos in existince

.IMG_1750.JPG.d34cb7c0cf23ca4f49820e2fcdfI trimmed the trunk after this photo, but it still has the boots.

Sabal don't sucker. That is probably random seed sprouting.

It didn't sucker, it started growing again after the spear pulled, I am assuming it still had some life in it and started regenerating and was able to grow a new spear. This isn't an uncommom thing to happen to some palms. I was just shocked this one came back after how beat up it was. No seeds in the soil!
