Chamaedorea stolonifera growing and multiplying in a planter bed between the house and carport.  A nice low maintenance plant that gets ignored most of the time.  Shaded from the morning sun by the carport and mid day sun by an overhead 60% .shade cloth.

Hawaii Island (Big Island), leeward coast, 19 degrees N. latitude, south Kona mauka at approx. 380m (1,250 ft.) and about 1.6 km (1-mile) upslope from ocean.

 

No record of a hurricane passing over this island (yet!).  

Summer maximum rainfall - variable averaging 900-1150mm (35-45") - Perfect drainage on black volcanic rocky soil.

Love it. Is it a female? This is a good Chamaedorea for the landscape--most of the others are hard to place or don't place well...
