Nicely done!! Mine started flowering earlier this year but I haven't bothered doing anything with them yet since I received a fresh batch of artificially-propagated seed from a friend while I procrastinated about hand-pollinating them. These palms are, IMO, one of the very best geonomas as potted subjects for greenhouses.

Seedlings do have a nasty tendency to die for no apparent reason when small, but once they reach 16 cm/6" pot size they seem quite easy in cultivation.

What a beauty and lovely photos too!

I do not have this one and I see Palmpedia lists 38 Genoma spp!

I would love to try them all, but so far have G. bondariana, conduruensis, cuneata v. cuneata, sp. entire leaf, and sp. Panama, assuming they all prove to be different species.

None are nearly as big as yours! Thanks so much.

Stunning plant and inflorescence!  I've never seen this in person, and now I have an idea of what this palm is and can be.  Thanks!

WOW Olivier,

Does this happen ever christmas?
Wonderful pictures of the very interesting species,
How old is the plant? (I start now with just germinated seeds)
and what do you - Palmtalk members - know about synonymy? (G. atrovirens and G. macrostachys ),
I am lost since seeds and seedlings look very different (RPS seeds)

Not sure, it's for me the first complete flowering but last year it did one in August but stopped before opening flowers. Another inflorescence is currently growing and will probaly flower soon

I don't know, but, yes, it seems to be quite different ...

Geonoma atrovirens and an identically looking G. tamandua are not morphotypes of an extremely variable G. macrostachys. Not all macrostachys look like this though.
