This Livistona endauensis is growing at Leu Gardens, Orlando, FL. I planted it in June 2001 from a 1 gal. plant. Despite being native to Malaysia it has been reasonably cold hardy, the hardiness seems similar to Saribus rotundifolius (Livistona rotundifolia). It is growing in shade under tree canopy so it gets frost protection.

That is a different looking Livistona for sure.  Are there any livistona carinensis at the gardens?

What an amazing collection of rarities at Leu! ...and this is just one of many.

I wonder how this palm fared after the big 2010 cold.

Thanks Eric.

There is one left. I just can't get this to grow here. I have grown them from seed and they are vigorous as seedlings. Once they get to planting size they just peter out. I think it is just too humid here but there are mature specimens in SoFL.

Thanks Eric.

It suffered moderate foliage burn after that winter but recovered fine. Our absolute low was only 28-29F that year but there were 12 nights between 30-32F and many other nights in the mid 30s to low 40s and days it didn't get above 50F.
