Red Christmas in La Habra, California

Thanks to all who liked my Flame On thread.

This one tops it, since there's SIX red leaves all at once.

Here's a pic of five Chambeyronia macrocarpa in my upper rainforest area. They stay red a long while at this time of year.

If you look closely, there's FIVE red leaves in there! (If you look just to the left of the trunk on the right you can see two "reddies" close together.)

AND!

The big Actinokentia divaricata is putting out its annual red leaf as well!

So I climbed on the roof, too.

The brilliant red leaf in front is the one barely visible on the left of the first picture above.

They burn a bit in the summer but not now. I suppose if we get a Stan Anal or Satan Annie Wind, they might fry, but we'll worry about that when the time comes.

And, as long we're obsessed over red, here's a shot of my largest Teddy Bears, Dypsis leptocheilos, center, with Archontophoenix cunninghamiana X alexandrae "Beatrice" towering on the right, and Caryota ochlandra soaring to the left.

It wouldn't be Christmas without a rooftop view from you! Everything looks really great this year. Especially with the drought  here in Calif. I just love the red frond. A real stunner in the garden.

Seeing any reindeer yet while up there? Have a happy one.
