It's quite rare to see such a foggy cool morning in Doranakanda:

Wow! I would have never expected such low temps in Sri Lanka...

Very interesting!

However, I don`t think that anyone of the plants in your garden will take any damage -

18 Celsius (for a few hours) are "no sweat" - I am pretty sure!

best regards

Yes, you're right but as User00 explains, for the villagers it's cold and they can get sick.

Same over here. We have constant temperatures (day and night) around 30C from the end of March until the end of

November (humidity is high, too) and then it drops down to (still) 21C or 20C in December/January but a lot of people are catching a cold...

best regards

My garden too also gets covered in a blanket of fog and the temps drop into the mid teens (15C). This is VERY cold for us. There is no heating in homes here .

Here on Hamakua Coast, Big Island of HI, we regularly get dips into the 50s F every winter.  I am just shy of 600' elevation.  Coconuts do well here, although it seems you don't have to go much further upslope and they just don't look as good.  OTOH, it is good for lychee cultivation because this subtropical fruit experiences flower induction after a cold night.

We are also upslope from Hilo at around 600 feet (183m) and the coldest it's been since living here has been 57 degrees (14c) which is a tad chilly. Nice thing though, by 9am it's usually close to 80 degrees. (26c) Fog, thunder, and lightning are extremely rare here.

What a beautiful picture. Wow.

I hope you don't mind me playing around with it a bit, here's a version that brings out some of the detail on the foreground.

That must be a very humid condition to produce those results. Fog is begining to lift in the second pic

Cheers, Barrie.
