Quite an obscure palm and a poorly known genus at that. I kick myself for missing the past lecture at MBC on this genus, but my work would not allow for me to have been there...

"Obscure" too because it is not very shiny. I looks a bit sad in the nature because no care is given too them. Dry leaves do not fall easily on their own. Buy I have seen some adult specimen. Well cared that were looking nice. It is a strong plant. Leaves are very thick and not flat at all. Transplant almost impossible. Only seedling as before coming out the root goes very deep. Maybe 1 meter deep. One you damage it a bit. Transplant fails. I have seen them only on beaches here in Cabinda but mine grow far from the beach. No pb. I can share pics of adult ones if needed. Here is the land of it, of phoenix reclinata, elaeis guineensis and rafia. All for natives. Certainly not imported.
