This evening I noticed these vertical markings on the crown shafts of my Pinanga maculata's. At first I thought it might be from water dripping from the crown, but looking more closely, I doubt that is the reason. It obviously isn't anything pathological either.

The crown shafts of these palms are beautiful enough and now even more interesting. Can't believe I hadn't noticed these marking before.

Wow, beautiful!  I will have to take a closer look at my three, see if they have similar markings.  Like you, I'd have assumed it was water dripping down the crownshaft.  After all, it rains nearly every day, at least a little.
