Can I clean my latania trunk? Is mine big enough?

Hey yall.  Can I pull the dead fronds husks off my latania trunk, or should I leave them? If I can, is mine big/old enough to do so? I tried to pull some off but they were pretty hard to get off, so I stopped.

It's not about look, I don't mind the look with the palm remnants. I'm a little worried about fungus.  I've seen armillaria elsewhere in the yard, and just saw some mushrooms pop up in the fronds after some really wet weather. I don't think it's armillaria, the shrooms look too small. And armillaria doesn't attack palms too often, but they definitely aren't totally immune. So I want to help it defend wherever I can.

Thanks guys!

I would remove them.

I use a sharp blade and cut upwards where the leaf base attaches to the trunk. Some fiber will probably remain but it will eventually dry and fall. Just don't cut into the trunk.
