Guys, I'm in the market to buy a new pole saw for cutting palm fronds.  Are there any that stand above the rest.  Maybe available on Amazon?

Thanks in advance,

Joe

I went for the Ryobi 18 volt from the big orange box store. I got it for a specific use, it was fairly inexpensive (175.) compared to a gas model. It has worked flawlessly for over two years now. I was worried about battery life, no need, your arms get tired faster than the battery dies. It is much lighter than a gas saw. Now 99 bucks on line.

I have a new Stihl Cordless HT85.

I can reach up to nearly 20feet with it fully extended.

So much better than the old 2 stroke models when doing trimming as never any problems starting, no noise, no fuel mixing, no broken starter cords and no exhaust.

I like it.

I have one of these and think its great. I use it every day at work and it really holds up if you keep it clean and spray silicone on it every once in a while.

Silky's pole saws, including the Hayauchi, have worked well at the dinky little local botanical garden.  Sherrill periodically has 15% off sales.  They also have what they bill as a lighter, stiffer, wildly more expensive pole saw that uses the Hayauchi blade.

At home, I use a 13' Silky Zubat all the time.  Perfect for keeping the mango trees in check.

I'm a tree surgeon, I use hand polesaw, Silky and the local Spanish brand here Gardena. I don't use a powered polesaw, rather I use ladders or a basket on the palm and use a top handle Stihl chainsaw. I have used the Stihl polesaw in the past and found it excellent.

Silky Hayate

Should be standard equipment in any garden with trees and palms. Wouldn't be without it.

Thanks for the input guys.  I have some pretty tall palms and would like to avoid the ladder for as long as possible.

ditto on the silky pole saws. in fact all the silky saw products really perform well. not cheap, but you know the saying....... i believe amazon may have better prices than sherrill tree. hayate model in photo below
