On my morning jog today with Zorro, we stopped at our usual rest spot and came across several massive cones under some old araucaria araucana trees. Of course, being the unhinged propagator that i am, i brought home an entire cone

Two of the cones had been torn apart by squirrels, but i found one in tact.

Looks like the squirrels missed a few seeds on the ones they tore apart.

These are the trees we found them under. Notice the giant cone on the lawn in front of Zorro (the pup).

They'll germinate fast and make sure that you get them in a deep pot as they put out vigorous roots while using the energy from the seed.  Once that energy is expelled everything slows to a glacial pace.

Do you think i should let the cone dry, or should i extract the seeds now? the cone makes a really great decoration on our coffee table.

The quote function on this forum is close to worthless. Nonetheless if you want to germinate those seeds you need to get started ASAP.  They have a propensity to dry out and once they do they will not germinate.
