Proper little palm

Nifty little palm from Papua New Guinea. So clean and proper looking, good scale for the garden, and attractive leaves.

I would think it would make a great container plant too.

The larger one is almost impossible to photograph and I need to do some 'editing'. The smaller one is almost perfect at this point.

Now I see the tag!

I have 15 little ones that I hope to form a H. Dransfieldii grove.

Hi Scott,

I always forget how small that tag is and to restate it in the post.

A grove of these sounds pretty sweet.......you'd better post some photos or I'll come visit.;)

Tim, I was going to hazard a guess of H. dransfieldii but lost my nerve. It looks just like the one I planted in my jungle after it started to outgrow our birdcage. In deep shade but still has gotten a bit of sunburn at times. A great palm that grew amazingly well for me.

Tim , those new rock paths that I posted have been a blessing and a curse.

They have opened up new "undeveloped" areas that are crying for plants. I wake up at night thinking what to plant and where.

Thankfully I am a nonstop seed germinating machine so I have lots of new palms etcetera to plant   Out.

Thank you Tim,

We rarely can see posts about Hydriastele genus.

I just sow Hydriastele dransfieldii, I hope they'll germinate.

Any other Hydriastele in your garden?  ( I started a "Hydriastele corne " in Puwakawatta but I lost the labels... Stupid!)

Scott, palm passion is like 'Jungle Fever', it never seems to break. Once you contract, it can persist for life.

I still germinate seed even though I'm almost out of room........can't seem to help myself.

Philippe, I hope your H. Dransfieldii germinate as well, good luck.

I do have a few Hydriastele in the garden and will post photos soon.

We also can help you ID the palms with lost tags, happens to all of us.

Tim , I have a bucket list of palms in my head and have been known to pull the car to the curb to read a new seed list from RPS.

I am most interested now in understory palms and many Hydriastelele sp. seem perfect.

So, if I come knock on your gate, will you let me in? Do I need to bring palm seed.

Palm seeds will help. I am not highly social.

At the beach it's easier to make contact.

The highland garden has high walls with electrified razor wire and armed guards . Not too friendly and inviting .
