Hey all, I saw this in my neighbors yard; this has to be the inspiration for the flower in the movie "little shop of horrors". Terry referred to it as the "jumanji " flower. Any guesses?

That's the male flower. Females come off the stem later. Weird sequence.

Is it normally female anthesis first?    I must admit I thought it was the other way round.

Said it was a weird sequence. At least with my plant. The female flower on mine tended to fully expose after the male flower opened. The female flower was always towards the top.
