I was wondering why mine has so few spines on the trunk.Seems they increase with height. Those leaf base scars are cool.  Thanks for the photos.

Nice pics, one of my favourite palms. I've two small seedings (emerging the first leaf) from @TexasColdHardyPalms and there're already showing spines too. I'm a big fan of your habitat pics, thank you for showing us the lushness of your country.

Why do you write in the title totai and in your initial post aculeata? Besides I thought that totai is was the bolivian ecotype of aculeata, while you refer to a brasilian habitat...

It's natural distribution is supposed to be Bolivia, South of Brazil and North of Argentina.
