not sure of the age -- but I started the Palm Hobby back in 2006 but probably got it a few years after that.  So let's say I got it in 2009 as a 12 inch seedling

Please let us know if the seed holds better relative to the RPS seed! Of the 10 I ordered from RPS, 3 were true dwarfs and the rest were semis. I wasn't disappointed or anything but was just wondering if this rate of dwarfage is what we can expect. Thanks.

It's going to be a long wait Gileno, but I am sure it will be worth it because its such an awesome looking palm.

My plant has flowered about 7 times before but this is just the first time it actually made fruits.  The seeds might not even germinate yet -- might be infertile since it's just the first batch.  Fingers crossed

Humange -- I think that getting 3 "True Dwarf"  out of 10 seeds is excellent!  I was thinking getting 1 true dwarf out of 100 seeds was more realistic.

I did notice though, that the fruits on this palm is more spherical than the ordinary A. catechu fruit.  Probably another "dwarf trait".

I will say thought that this tree is probably the best version of a true dwarf that I have seen.  The leaflets are fused in very wide segments, the leaves are very short and recurved, and the ends of the leaf are "squared off" which is a feature I don't see in most other "true dwarfs".  So I really hope it passes of the "quality of it's dwarfness" to it's offspring

So I understand why I am not so happy with the seedling from the 10 seeds I bought.
Either I wait until next time ( but I may die before it happens ) or I buy more seeds or seedlings as soon as I can.

BTW, Gene, your pictures and your palms are wonderful, post as much as you like !

Beautiful! I am trying them from seeds and hope to get one like those. I just finished spraying them for spider mites which are lethal pests during our dry winters.

when I bought this palm from a vendor over here, it was 1 out of 6 plants.  But after owning it for a few months and reading up on it, I realized that they probably wouldn't turn out true to form so I returned them k to the vendor to exchange them for other plants.  I decided to keep this one because I just had a feeling about it -- pretty happy that I was lucky with my choice.

A lot of vendors here seem to be unaware that not all Dwarf Areca Catechu seedling will come out true to form.
