I posted this B armata earlier in this thread. The front garden has been cleared out and it’s a bit taller now so it can now be seen from the street over the fence. Planted from seedling size in 2003.

I’ve really been admiring the way this blue color has been turning out in my Franken Brahea from seeds acquired from @DoomsDave

IMG_2333.thumb.jpeg.4b2ea10c6d3f3244f1694ad1688b208b.jpeg

As always, photos don’t really do justice to the color, but you can really see the contrast vs my other in-ground Franken Brahea (same batch) which has more of a lime green color, I have given away two others from the same batch that appear to have the blue color, the green is nice too, will be nice to compare these when they get more size.

This is an excellent example of F2 hybrids.  First one seems to show characteristics of armata while the second one showing more of the other parent (brandegeei?) from Dave's F1 hybrid.  Is the green one growing faster?

I’m not ready to say at this point that it is growing faster, even though it looks a little bigger in the photo, they both spear pulled this past winter after the Christmas freeze even though they both showed 0% frond damage. I didn’t want to take any chances with rot so I cut them both back to expose a clean growing point, I was able to leave a couple more fronds on the green one vs the blue/silver one so it might be slightly stunted from that event by comparison. Time will tell if the brandegeei leaning hybrid might grow faster vs. armata leaning

If I knew Brahea clara would do so well in my garden, I would have planted more of them.

First photo is shortly after planting a 24" box in 2009

Second photo is same palm today with about 12' of trunk. There is a smaller one to the right that was planted from a one gallon size about 10 years ago. That one seems to be a little slow, but has better color than the first one.
