Picked this up at a Supermarket. I'd forgotten the names of various Broms but a search reminded me of the name Vriesea. I wonder what colour the actual flowers will be when they open, and if theyre fragrant like the flowers on my previous brom, a Tillandsia, were.

Did you all realise they are related to grass!

Yes it's a Vriesea, possibly a hybrid with V. erythrodactylon as a parent.

Forgot to add that the flowers are usually yellow and not aromatic. The flowers have a tendency to blend in with the floral bracts so keep your eyes open

Thanks I'll keep an eye out. Last year I had another brom, a Tillandsia cyanea (Pink Quill). I was waiting for the parent to die off and plant up the offshoots, but the whole thing just withered away.
