Gardens by the Bay in Singapore opened to the public on June 28th, 2012, after reportedly having spent around US$850M in construction and acquisition of plants (including LOTS of palms) from all over the world. Kim and I were fortunate to visit in September 2012, only 2.5 months after it opened, and it's been fascinating to watch the progress of the garden since. (The IPS Biennial visited here in June 2016). Walking around in the garden this morning it would be impossible to imagine that this very mature garden is not even six years old. True, lots of the palms were large specimens when planted, but still. Here's a small part of the "World of Palms" area.  :) A few Carpoxylon macrospermum on the left and lots of other palms.

Borassodendron machadonis (top) and then a group of Copernicias. (I am sure someone else will know the species?) Iconic Marina Bay Sands in the background.

Two Coryphas (I'm guessing umbraculifera, and there were many more) and a Pelagodoxa henryana. :)

And finally a Lodoicea maldivica. Seemed to be the only one.

I also went to visit that garden in September 2012 after the biennial and it was a fantastic experience. It is fun to see all the fast growth and for comparison here are some photos from then:

Is this field of Joey palms still there?

The avenue of Carpoxylons back then.

The Lodoicia was quite big already when planted.

Thanks Daxin! :) I am sure the Joeys are still there, but I missed that particular walkway this morning. But I am sure these are the same Carpoxylons as in your middle photo - just from the opposite direction.

I would have loved to have spent more time there, but raining buckets does hinder palm viewing!!

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!
