I noticed some white dust accumulating in the crown of my coconut palm. I scraped some off and took a picture. It also seemed to be a little moist and smelled very sweet. Can someone tell me what it is?

I may be wrong on this but that sure does

look like mealy bug to me I hate using insecticides but I had to use some in one of

my palms recently took it right away. Bayer 3 n 1 . Blast it all off with a good hose as well

I thought it was mealy bug too but I’m no expert. Safari systemic insecticide works very well but it’s expensive you don’t have to worry about killing bees etc because the palm is not going to flower any time soon

Bayer 3 in 1 is cheap 8 bucks I believe . I had a major ant problem on one of my royatoneas which also mealy and I tried everything natural to no avail one I used the bayer it was gone and says it last 12 months

Bayer didn’t work on scale I had on my palms but cheap and worth a try

Just tried an insecticidal soap. Hoping it works. They’re much more widespread than I initially thought.

I use Garden Safe Brand Insecticidal Soap For Organic Gardening for ALL pest problems I have with very good results.  When you go ALL ORGANIC like I did 6 years ago, you have very few pest problems and stronger healthier palms and other trees and plants.
