Do you think the seeds are enough mature to plant ? Should I clean them before to plant, whats the best way for a large batch ?

Careful with the cleaning of the seeds , since they are  stinging .

I would guess urens because maxima is usually bigger, but I am no expert.

But when my mitis set fruit, striking them was not the problem,

pulling them all out from all over the yard when they came up by themselves was.

Cheers Steve

It is not dead, it is just senescence.

Seems like C. Maxima and C. Urens are the same specie from what I have read on RPS and other web sites ?

From RPS : " Caryota maxima Himalaya. Himalayan or Mountain Fish Tail Palm. Though known in cultivation for a while now, especially in California where it is grown under the name Caryota urens or “Mountain Form” "

I'm wondering if it is not a C. Ochlandra  maybe ??

@dwimss, how big are the plants? Do you have a picture of the trunk in full light?

Generally, they look like urens or ochlandra, which I've heard are variations of the same thing. But then again, maybe not. I've got both, and urens is a lot bigger, with a green/gray trunk. Ochlandra has a lot of white fuzz on the trunk, and it's about 1/2 urens' size.

Hi Dave,

@DoomsDave, like you said it is smaller than  C. Urens/Maxima, probably 1/3 C. Urens size and the trunk is grey and not green.
I do have another pic were we can see the trunk color and a man on the tree cutting the seeds, it gives an idea of the scale.

Sorry for image quality it is not the best!
