Anyone having problems with the windstorm? We are getting some of it here, power outages, etc. It is crazy, I have not seen wind like this for years here for this long! Stay safe.

Yeah the winds literally blew over one of my prized yucca...cut the trunk and potted it in hope I can salvage it...

Yeah soon as i cut the base of the trunk it started growing little white things. Hopefully it pulls through. Sadly we are in for january weather from tuesday through sunday so insult to injury....at least the baby will become the alpha succor now so its not a total loss.

Yucca tops are generally easy to re-start, so there shouldn't be any issues getting it to root. Might advise removing as much of the dead leaf bases at the bottom as you can ( to reduce any places that could be places where fungus issues might try and develop, ...and maybe taking off some of the lower (Green) leaves (.. or cutting them back by roughly 1/2) Use a potting mix that drains well and pre- soak the potting mix before sticking the cutting.  Keep somewhere warm (A warm window indoors maybe??... if it does get colder there over the next week or two ) Let it go almost bone dry before watering it again ( until it roots of course)

You should be able to tell if it is rooting in about 4 weeks - give or take, depending on weather conditions. I've had cuttings left on the ground for over a month quickly root once planted.

+1, remove the old leaf bases and try to get at least 3-4" of stem. Then put that in well draining soil and it'll root out fast.

Yeah did a clean cut, wasnt any fungus or anything. Then put it in a pot in the garage and water it every day. Going to hope for the best and plant it somewhere else since the baby will likely take over and the roots in its old spot would put the spacing off. Sad sad day, but cant stop the weather I guess.
